Activities of the Prison Service for the personal security of officers on the example of the Remand Centre in Kielce.

Niniejsza praca podejmuje temat bezpieczeństwa personalnego funkcjonariuszy Służby Więziennej na przykładzie Aresztu Śledczego w Kielcach. Celem opracowania była analiza działań podejmowanych przez Służbę Więzienną na rzecz zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa personalnego funkcjonariuszy. W części teoretycznej omówiono podstawy prawne, strukturę organizacyjną formacji oraz definicję i istotę bezpieczeństwa personalnego. Badania empiryczne, przeprowadzone metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, ujawniły główne zagrożenia wskazywane przez funkcjonariuszy, takie jak stres zawodowy, agresja ze strony osadzonych oraz braki kadrowe. Respondenci wskazali również na skuteczność stosowanych środków technicznych i organizacyjnych oraz potrzebę dalszego doskonalenia procedur i zwiększenia zasobów kadrowych.

This thesis addresses the issue of personal safety of Prison Service officers, using the Remand Centre in Kielce as a case study. The main objective was to identify and analyse the measures undertaken by the Prison Service to protect its staff from physical and psychological threats. The theoretical part discusses the legal foundations, organizational structure of the service, and the definition and essence of personal safety. Empirical research, conducted using the diagnostic survey method, revealed the main threats identified by officers, such as occupational stress, aggression from inmates, and
staffing shortages. Respondents also pointed to the effectiveness of the applied technical and organizational measures, as well as the need for further improvement of procedures and an increase in human resources.
